“Un restaurant fantastique! Le personnel est drôle et ils vous émerveillerons avec leurs tours! La nourriture est excellente et attendez-vous a vous couchez tard car la musique vous donneras le goût de festoyer jusqu’au petites heures du matin!”

There was 4 of us in our dining party and we were looking for a place for dinner. We walked by Ajua, just off 5th Ave, and we went to check out their menu. It was a good sign that all of the patio seats were taken. We were lucky they had room for us as they had two large parties booked. We sat near the bar and fairly close to the band which turned out to be really good as they were quite entertaining.
We started with the garlic prawns (tasty) and then chose the ceasar salad. (very flavorful). They brought out all the ingredients alongside our table and it was quite entertaining to watch them prepare it from scratch. My girlfriend and I had a 7 oz lobster tail which was very tasty and affordable. We didn’t have room for dessert but I hear the cheesecake is homemade and I wish I had left room. Had we stayed longer we would have returned!

First visit to Ajua Maya, and it left us with a very good impression!!! The food was great, the waiter was so personal and gracious to us. He made us feel right at home, and was always checking back to see if he could do anything else. Would go back again for sure!!!

We ate here one of our last nights in Playa… Great service and the food was excellent (my husband had one of the Mayan dishes (orange pork, can’t remember the name). I ate the stuffed chicken breast w/ chipotle sauce – good and had a nice kick, the shrimp cerveche (SP?) was great, the guac wasn’t my favorite but OK . My kids loved the waiter – he had a few gags and some fun tricks for them to play. Drinks came out on the waiters head, which the boy’s thought was fun. My only complaint is the food is pricey – not bad, but pricey. Save this restaurant for special occasions or your last “supper” in Playa. Wouldn’t visit every night like Tango Taco (off of 10th Ave) or Carboncetos (SP? – right down the street), but fun for a night!

We ate at Ajua Maya two times last week. It was some of the best food we had during our week in PDC. I would especially recommend the Mayan platter for it’s variety, althoug it is an enormous amount of food. Be suire you are hungry when you go!

I had never been to Playa until recently and thought it would be just like every other Mexican vacation spot with the same food and entertainment. Boy was I worng especially about the food and fun. I went to Ajua Maya Restaurant as a place to get a bite to eat and get on with the day but what I found was a place with the best food and fun in Playa. We enjoyed the varied selection of fine food and the atmosphere, of friendly and courteous service from a truly entertaining staff. We enjoyed it so much that we had several of our meals there over the weeks time. It may not be on the 5th Ave. but its worth the side trip. I would recommend the Ajua Maya to all who truly want a great dining experience in Mexico.

We had a great evening at Ajua. Friends we were there with are regulars when they visit Mexico and couldn’t say enough about it. A truly great spot. Food is A-1 and priced right. Not cheap but far from over-priced. I would recommend this spot to anyone. The waiters are quite comedic as well…. you’ll have to see for yourself.

We visit Playa at least three times a year and always visit Ajua at least once. We have yet to have anything less than a wonderful time there.. We have unhesitatingly recommended it to our friends and they agree with our assessment.

Stumbled on it in 2003 & have revisited 3 times since, whenever we’ve been back. Usually live music on, great atmosphere.
There’s quite a few specials which are cooked at the table – the Caesar salad, some of the steaks & the Mayan coffee. The food’s good plus it’s like having your own entertainment at the table.
Would recommend to everyone.
