“Our favourite restaurant in Playa del Carmen”

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011
Stumbled on it in 2003 & have revisited 3 times since, whenever we’ve been back.  Usually live music on, great atmosphere.

There’s quite a few specials which are cooked at the table – the Caesar salad, some of the steaks & the Mayan coffee.
The food’s good — plus, it’s like having your own entertainment at the table.

Would recommend to everyone.

“Excellente cuisine maya!”

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Tikin Xic & Cochinita Pibil - the taste of the Yucatecos

We tried to find local cuisine while staying at Riviera Maya. Ajua Maya was one of the highlights (also recommended Charlie’s at Tulum, Los Pelicanos – Puerto Morelos, Carboncitos – Playa del Carmen).

We tried Sopa de Lima – delicious, and Tikin Xic (also spelled Tikin Chik) – marinated fish baked in babana leaf, Cochinita Pibil and Poc Chuck, both marinated pork. They were delicious.

Pina Colada and Margaritas were also nicely done.

The service was quick and with a smile. They play live music later in the evening, cannot report on that since we ate everything so very quickly :-)

Definitely my favorite restaurant in Playa!
We go there for 75% or more of our meals when we are there or close by.
Never been anywhere better!

A really great restaurant just off the main drag

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

We found this restaurant by accident, just walking around. It is on Calle 4 between 5th and 10th Avenues. There is a great band from 8-10 every night. Very friendly waiters and hosts. A lot of flambe so quite a show. I had a filet mignon flambed with roquefort and mushrooms which was excellent and only about $20 U.S. My friend had a flambed coffee with 3 different liqueurs. We shared a flan for dessert which was the best I’ve ever had. Only snag is there are closed up stores opposite the restaurant.

CRAZY FUN & DELICIOUS!

Friday, February 18th, 2011

My husband and I never pass up an opportunity to walk down to AJUA when we are in Playa!
The live music (every night!) draws you in, the menu (not to mention the aroma!) begs you to get a table and the staff make you want to stay and dance the night away!
The food never disappoints and is priced so you can even throw in a dessert!
We particularly love to order meals and desserts that are prepared table side, they literally stop the foot traffic. And you’ve got to see the waiters stack 3-4 and even sometimes 5 drinks on their heads and walk them to your table. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

“Fun and tasty”

Friday, February 18th, 2011
This little place off of 5th Ave on 4 Norte is great. The food is very good and reasonably priced. You must order the Maya Coffee. The flambe production is as good as the coffee itself. We will be going back!

Girls Going Wild in Ajua Maya – Wow! – Our newest You Tube Video!

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

Want a wonderful night. Alejandro, my 20 year old son, and I had just finished dancing when he took his first video with his Nokia N8 smart phone. What a great phone – 12 mgp camera and HD video.

Hope you all enjoy this. I certainly did. Tierra Vera is such a wonderful band.
